I prayed behind the Prophet ﷺ and I sneezed, so I said, "Praise be to Allah, abundant, good, and blessed praise, blessed in it and blessed upon it, as our Lord loves and is pleased with."When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished the prayer and turned away, he asked, "Who was the one speaking during the prayer?"No one answered him. Then he asked a second time, "Who was the one speaking during the prayer?"Rifa bin Rafi bin Afra said, "It was I, Messenger of Allah."The Prophet asked, "What did you say?"He replied, "I said, 'Praise be to Allah, abundant, good, and blessed praise, blessed in it and blessed upon it, as our Lord loves and is pleased with.'"The Prophet ﷺ said, "By the One in whose hand my soul is, thirty-some angels rushed to it, each eager to be the one to ascend with it."
أخبرنا قتيبة قال حدثنا رفاعة بن يحيى بن عبد الله بن رفاعة بن رافع
صليت خلف النبي ﷺ فعطست فقلت الحمد لله حمدا كثيرا طيبا مباركا فيه مباركا عليه كما يحب ربنا ويرضى فلما صلى رسول الله ﷺ انصرف فقال من المتكلم في الصلاة فلم يكلمه أحد ثم قالها الثانية من المتكلم في الصلاة فقال رفاعة بن رافع ابن عفراء أنا يا رسول الله قال كيف قلت قال قلت الحمد لله حمدا كثيرا طيبا مباركا فيه مباركا عليه كما يحب ربنا ويرضى فقال النبي ﷺ والذي نفسي بيده لقد ابتدرها بضعة وثلاثون ملكا أيهم يصعد بها
[Its chain of transmission is hasan] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Prayer, Chapter on What One Opens the Prayer with of Supplications, hadith no. 773, and Tirmidhi in the Book of Prayer, Chapter on What Has Been Said about a Man Sneezing during Prayer, hadith no. 404, both from Qutayba with this chain. It is also found in Kubra, hadith no. 1003, and Tirmidhi said, "Hasan."
