He used to lead his people in prayer despite being blind. He said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Darkness, rain, and floods come, and I am a man whose sight has gone. Messenger of Allah, please pray in a spot in my house so I may take it as a place of prayer."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and asked, "Where would you like me to pray for you?"He pointed to a spot in the house, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed there.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Adhan, chapter on the permission to pray in one's lodging when it rains or there is a valid reason, hadith no. 667, and Muslim in the Book of Faith, chapter on the proof that whoever dies upon monotheism enters Paradise definitively, hadith no. 33, from the hadith of Malik through this same chain. It is also found in Muwatta (Yahya's version) 12/172, and in Kubra, hadith no. 3608.
