I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "When one of you visits a people, he should not lead them in prayer."
أخبرنا سويد بن نصر قال أنبأنا عبد الله عن أبان بن يزيد قال حدثنا بديل بن ميسرة قال حدثنا أبو عطية مولى لنا
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إذا زار أحدكم قوما فلا يصلين بهم
[hasan] Reported by Abu Dawud, Prayer, chapter on the leadership in prayer of a visitor, no. 596, and Tirmidhi, Prayer, chapter on what has been said about one who visits a people and should not lead them in prayer, no. 356, from the hadith of Abu Aban bin Yazid, with this wording. Tirmidhi said, "hasan sahih." It is also found in Sunan al-Kubra, no. 862, and it has corroborating narrations, some of which have been mentioned in Nail al-Maqsud, p. 1/211.
