I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ circle the Kaaba seven times, then pray two units of prayer alongside it at the edge of the Station, with no one between him and those performing the circumambulation.

Its chain is daif. Ibn Majah narrated it in the Book of Rites, chapter on the two rakahs after tawaf, hadith no. 2958, from the hadith of Ibn Jurayj, with the same wording. It is also found in Kubra, hadith no. 834, and it has a discrediting flaw.Kathir did not hear directly from his father, there is an unknown narrator between them, as shown by the narration of Ibn Uyayna (Sunan Abu Dawud, hadith no. 2016). His father was not deemed reliable by anyone except Ibn Hibban, so he remains an obscure narrator whose reliability is unconfirmed.
