The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform ablution with one makkuk and bathe with five makkuks.
أخبرنا عمرو بن علي قال حدثنا يحيى قال حدثنا شعبة قال حدثني عبد الله بن عبد الله بن جبر قال سمعت
كان رسول الله ﷺ يتوضأ بمكوك ويغتسل بخمس مكاكي
Agreed upon: Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Wudu, Chapter on Wudu with a Mudd, hadith (201), and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Menstruation, Chapter on the Recommended Amount of Water, etc., hadith (325), from the hadith of Shubah, and Ahmad in 3/112 from Yahya Qattan, from the hadith of Ibn Jabr, through the same chain. It is also found in Kubra, hadith (74), though with a corruption in the chain as printed.
