Ibn Umar called the adhan for prayer on a cold and windy night, then announced, "Pray in your dwellings." He explained that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to order the muadhdhin, when the night was cold and rainy, to say, "Pray in your dwellings."
أخبرنا قتيبة عن مالك
أن ابن عمر أذن بالصلاة في ليلة ذات برد وريح فقال ألا صلوا في الرحال فإن رسول الله ﷺ كان يأمر المؤذن إذا كانت ليلة باردة ذات مطر يقول ألا صلوا في الرحال
Bukhari, Adhan, chapter on the concession regarding rain, and the reason being that one may pray in his lodging, hadith no. 666, and Muslim, Prayer of the Traveler, chapter on prayer in one's lodging during rain, hadith no. 22/697, from the hadith of Malik with this chain, and it is found in the Muwatta (Yahya) 1/73, and in the Kubra, hadith no. 1618.
