The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the use of gourds, green-glazed jars, hollowed-out stumps, and vessels coated with pitch. Abu Awana differed from him in this narration.
أخبرنا محمد بن إسمعيل قال حدثنا يزيد قال أنبأنا شريك عن سماك بن حرب
أن رسول الله ﷺ نهى عن الدباء والحنتم والنقير والمزفت خالفه أبو عوانة
Sahih. It is also in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 5188, and the hadith has supporting narrations, and its foundation is in Sahih Muslim.
