The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best form of seeking forgiveness is for a servant to say, 'O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no god but You. You created me, and I am Your servant. I hold to Your covenant and Your promise as best I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge before You Your blessings upon me, and I acknowledge before You my sin, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.' Whoever says this in the morning with certainty in it and dies that day will enter Paradise, and whoever says it in the evening with certainty in it and dies that night will enter Paradise."Walid bin Thalaba differed with him in the narration.
أخبرنا عمرو بن علي قال حدثنا يزيد وهو ابن زريع قال حدثنا حسين المعلم عن عبد الله بن بريدة عن بشير بن كعب
عن النبي ﷺ قال إن سيد الاستغفار أن يقول العبد اللهم أنت ربي لا إله إلا أنت خلقتني وأنا عبدك وأنا على عهدك ووعدك ما استطعت أعوذ بك من شر ما صنعت أبوء لك بذنبي وأبوء لك بنعمتك علي فاغفر لي فإنه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت فإن قالها حين يصبح موقنا بها فمات دخل الجنة وإن قالها حين يمسي موقنا بها دخل الجنة خالفه الوليد بن ثعلبة
Bukhari reported it in the Book of Supplications, the chapter on what one says upon waking in the morning, hadith no. 6323, from the hadith of Yazid bin Zuray, transmitted through him, and it is also in Kubra, hadith no. 7963.
