The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to seek protection from the evil eye of the jinn and the evil eye of humans. When the two surahs of refuge were revealed, he relied on them and left aside everything else.
أخبرنا هلال بن العلاء قال حدثنا سعيد بن سليمان قال حدثنا عباد عن الجريري عن أبي نضرة
كان رسول الله ﷺ يتعوذ من عين الجان وعين الإنس فلما نزلت المعوذتان أخذ بهما وترك ما سوى ذلك
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Ibn Majah narrated it in Kitab al-Tibb, chapter "Whoever seeks a ruqyah for the evil eye," hadith 3511, from the hadith of Saeed bin Sulayman, with this same wording. It is also found in al-Kubra, hadith 7930. Tirmidhi said regarding hadith 2058, "Hasan gharib."
