The Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned from a journey, and I had hung a curtain bearing images over a small alcove of mine. He pulled it down and said, "The people most severely punished on the Day of Resurrection are those who try to imitate the creation of Allah."
أخبرنا قتيبة قال حدثنا سفيان عن عبد الرحمن بن القاسم عن أبيه
قدم رسول الله ﷺ من سفر وقد سترت بقرام على سهوة لي فيه تصاوير فنزعه وقال أشد الناس عذابا يوم القيامة الذين يضاهون بخلق الله
Bukhari transmitted it, in the Book of Clothing, chapter on images that are trodden underfoot, hadith no. 5954, and Muslim, hadith no. 2107/92 (see the previous hadith, narrated from Sufyan bin Uyayna with the same wording).
