Hudhayfah asked for water, and a Persian landlord brought him water in a silver vessel. He threw it back at him, then apologized to those present for what he had done to him, saying, "I had warned him against this. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Do not drink from vessels of gold or silver, and do not wear brocade or silk, for these belong to them in this world and to us in the Hereafter.'"

استسقى حذيفة فأتاه دهقان بماء في إناء من فضة فحذفه ثم اعتذر إليهم مما صنع به وقال إني نهيته سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول لا تشربوا في إناء الذهب والفضة ولا تلبسوا الديباج ولا الحرير فإنها لهم في الدنيا ولنا في الآخرة
