Umar went out and saw a silk brocade garment being sold in the marketplace. He came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, buy this and wear it on Fridays and when delegations come to visit you."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "This is worn only by one who has no share in the Hereafter."Later, three such garments were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he gave one to Umar, one to Ali, and one to Usama. Umar came to him and said, "Messenger of Allah, you said about this garment what you said, and then you sent one to me?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Sell it and use the money for your needs, or cut it into head coverings to share among your womenfolk."
