Ubayy was asked, "How did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform the obligatory prayers?"He replied, "He would pray the noon prayer, which you call the first prayer, when the sun had passed its zenith. He would pray the afternoon prayer at a time when one of us could return to his dwelling at the far end of Madinah while the sun was still bright and strong. I have forgotten what he said about the sunset prayer. He preferred to delay the night prayer, which you call al-atamah, and he disliked sleeping before it or conversing after it. He would finish the dawn prayer at a time when a man could recognize the person sitting beside him, and he would recite between sixty and a hundred verses in it."
