The Prophet ﷺ once wore a gold ring, then discarded it and wore a silver ring instead. He had engraved on it "Muhammad, Messenger of Allah," and he said, "No one should engrave anything matching the inscription on this ring of mine." He used to wear it with the stone facing the inside of his palm.
