The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade me from wearing a ring on this finger and this one, meaning the index finger and the middle finger. The wording is that of Ibn al-Muthanna.
أخبرنا محمد بن المثنى ومحمد بن بشار قالا حدثنا عبد الرحمن عن سفيان عن عاصم بن كليب عن أبي بردة
نهاني رسول الله ﷺ عن الخاتم في هذه وهذه يعني السبابة والوسطى واللفظ لابن المثنى
Reported by Muslim, in the Book of Clothing, chapter on the prohibition of wearing a ring on the middle finger and the one next to it, hadith no. 2078/64, from Ibn Muthanna through this chain. It is also found in Kubra, hadith nos. 9539 and 9538.
