The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not seek light from the fire of the polytheists, and do not engrave Arabic inscriptions on your rings."
أخبرنا مجاهد بن موسى الخوارزمي ببغداد قال حدثنا هشيم قال أنبأنا العوام بن حوشب عن أزهر بن راشد
قال رسول الله ﷺ لا تستضيئوا بنار المشركين ولا تنقشوا على خواتيمكم عربيا
[Its chain is daif] Ahmad narrated it, 3/99, from Hushaym through the same chain, and it is also in Al-Kubra, hadith 9535. Bayhaqi explained it in his narration from Hasan, "Do not consult the polytheists about any of your affairs, and do not engrave 'Muhammad' on your rings." Azhar was declared daif by Ibn Hibban and others, and Abu Hatim and the author of Taqrib said, "He is majhul (unknown)."
