His grandfather said that he was told by his own grandfather that he had seen his grandfather lose his nose at the Battle of Kulab during the days of ignorance. So he had a nose made of silver, but it began to give off a foul smell, so the Prophet ﷺ instructed him to have one made of gold instead.
أخبرنا قتيبة قال حدثنا يزيد بن زريع عن أبي الأشهب قال حدثني عبد الرحمن بن طرفة
وكان جده قال حدثني أنه رأى جده أصيب أنفه يوم الكلاب في الجاهلية قال فاتخذ أنفا من فضة فأنتن عليه فأمره النبي ﷺ أن يتخذه من ذهب
