The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to forbid his family from wearing jewelry and silk, saying, "If you desire the jewelry and silk of Paradise, then do not wear them in this world."
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Tabarani narrated it in Al-Kabir, 17/302, no. 835, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Wahb, through this route, and it is also in Al-Kubra, no. 9436. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 1463, as did Hakim, according to the standard of the two sheikhs, 4/191, but Dhahabi followed up on this, saying, "The two of them did not narrate from Abu Ashanah."
