I saw Muawiya bin Abu Sufyan on the pulpit holding in his hand a hairpiece of the kind women use, made of hair. He said, "What is wrong with Muslim women that they do this? I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Any woman who adds to the hair of her head what is not part of it has added a fraudulent thing.'"
أخبرنا أحمد بن عمرو بن السرح قال أنبأنا ابن وهب قال أخبرني مخرمة بن بكير عن أبيه
رأيت معاوية بن أبي سفيان على المنبر ومعه في يده كبة من كبب النساء من شعر فقال ما بال المسلمات يصنعن مثل هذا إني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول أيما امرأة زادت في رأسها شعرا ليس منه فإنه زور تزيد فيه

[Its chain is hasan] Tabarani reported it in Al-Kabir (19/345) through the hadith of Abdullah bin Wahb by this route, and it is also in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 9372.Saeed here is Ibn Abu Saeed Maqburi. Fulayh bin Sulayman narrated it from Saeed Maqburi from his father, and so on, and both routes are preserved.
