The Prophet ﷺ said, "When a slave steals, sell him, even for half an ounce of silver."Abu Abdul-Rahman said, Umar bin Abu Salama is not strong in hadith.
أخبرنا الحسن بن مدرك قال حدثنا يحيى بن حماد قال حدثنا أبو عوانة عن عمر وهو ابن أبي سلمة عن أبيه
عن النبي ﷺ قال إذا سرق العبد فبعه ولو بنش قال أبو عبد الرحمن عمر بن أبي سلمة ليس بالقوي في الحديث
[Its isnad is hasan]. Reported by Abu Dawud, Hudud, chapter on selling a slave when he steals, h: 4412, from the hadith of Abu Awana with this wording, and it is also in Al-Kubra, h: 7473.Umar bin Abu Salama was deemed reliable by most scholars, so his hadith is hasan.
