I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Hands are not to be cut off during travel."
أخبرنا عمرو بن عثمان قال حدثني بقية قال حدثني نافع بن يزيد قال حدثني حيوة بن شريح عن عياش بن عباس عن جنادة بن أبي أمية قال سمعت

Sahih. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Hudud, chapter, "Should the hand of a man who steals during a military expedition be cut off?", hadith no. 4408, from the hadith of Haywa bin Shurayh with this chain, and it is also found in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 7472. Tirmidhi said, in hadith no. 1450, this is hasan gharib. Ibn Main said this is a Syrian chain.
