The Prophet ﷺ said, "Pardon one another regarding the prescribed punishments before the matter is brought to me, for once a case involving a prescribed punishment reaches me, the punishment becomes obligatory."
أخبرنا محمد بن هاشم قال حدثنا الوليد قال حدثنا ابن جريج
عن النبي ﷺ قال تعافوا الحدود قبل أن تأتوني به فما أتاني من حد فقد وجب
[Its chain is daif]. Abu Dawud transmitted it in the Book of Punishments, chapter "Punishments are overlooked as long as they have not reached the ruler," hadith no. 4376, from the hadith of Ibn Jurayj, through him, and he used the ambiguous form "an" in transmission. It is also found in al-Kubra, hadith no. 7372. Hakim graded it sahih, 4/383, as did Dhahabi, and so did Hafiz in al-Fath, 12/87.Amr bin Shuayb, along with Ibn Jurayj's use of the ambiguous "an" form, is a discrediting flaw.
