Abu Bakr bin Hazm brought me a document on a piece of leather from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ which read, "This is a declaration from Allah and His Messenger. 'O you who believe, fulfill your contracts' [Maidah 5:1]." He then recited several verses from it and said, "For a life, one hundred camels. For an eye, fifty. For a hand, fifty. For a foot, fifty. For a wound that reaches the brain membrane, one third of the full blood-money. For a wound that penetrates the body cavity, one third of the full blood-money. For a wound that displaces bone, fifteen camels. For each finger, ten. For each tooth, five. For a wound that exposes the bone, five."
