A case involving retaliation was brought before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he ordered that the offender be pardoned.
أخبرنا إسحق بن إبراهيم قال أنبأنا عبد الرحمن قال حدثنا عبد الله وهو ابن بكر بن عبد الله المزني عن عطاء بن أبي ميمونة
أتي رسول الله ﷺ في قصاص فأمر فيه بالعفو
[Its chain of transmission is sahih]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Diyat, chapter on the ruler ordering pardon in a case of bloodshed, hadith no. 4497, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Bakr, in this wording, and it is also found in al-Kubra, hadith no. 6985.* Abdul-Rahman here is Ibn Mahdi.
