Rabi broke the front tooth of a young girl. Her family asked them for pardon, but they refused. They were then offered compensation, but they still refused. So they came to the Prophet ﷺ, who ordered retaliation.Anas bin Nadr said, "Messenger of Allah, will Rabi's tooth be broken? No, by the One who sent you with the truth, it shall not be broken!"The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Anas, the Book of Allah prescribes retaliation."But the people accepted the offer and pardoned her. The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Among the servants of Allah there are some who, if they were to swear an oath by Allah, He would fulfill it for them."
