Waail bin Hajar reported,

The killer who had committed murder was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ by the victim's next of kin.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him, "Will you pardon him?"He said, "No."The Prophet asked, "Will you take the blood-money?"He said, "No."The Prophet asked, "Will you kill him?"He said, "Yes."The Prophet said, "Take him away."When he set off, the Prophet called him back and asked, "Will you pardon him?"He said, "No."The Prophet asked, "Will you take the blood-money?"He said, "No."The Prophet asked, "Will you kill him?"He said, "Yes."The Prophet said, "Take him away."When he set off again, the Prophet said, "If you pardon him, he will bear your sin and the sin of your companion."So he pardoned him and let him go.The narrator said, "I saw him dragging his rope behind him."

أخبرنا محمد بن إسمعيل بن إبراهيم قال حدثنا إسحق عن عوف الأعرابي

عن علقمة بن وائل الحضرمي عن أبيه قال

جيء بالقاتل الذي قتل إلى رسول الله ﷺ جاء به ولي المقتول فقال له رسول الله ﷺ أتعفو قال لا قال أتقتل قال نعم قال اذهب فلما ذهب دعاه قال أتعفو قال لا قال أتأخذ الدية قال لا قال أتقتل قال نعم قال اذهب فلما ذهب قال أما إنك إن عفوت عنه فإنه يبوء بإثمك وإثم صاحبك فعفا عنه فأرسله قال فرأيته يجر نسعته
