The Prophet ﷺ forbade the sale known as habal al-habalah, a transaction practiced by the people of the pre-Islamic era. A man would buy a slaughter-camel with payment deferred until the she-camel gave birth, and then until the offspring she was carrying gave birth in turn.
أخبرنا محمد بن سلمة والحارث بن مسكين قراءة عليه وأنا أسمع واللفظ له عن ابن القاسم قال حدثني مالك عن نافع
أن النبي ﷺ نهى عن بيع حبل الحبلة وكان بيعا يتبايعه أهل الجاهلية كان الرجل يبتاع جزورا إلى أن تنتج الناقة ثم تنتج التي في بطنها
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Sales, chapter on the sale of gharar and habal al-habalah, hadith no. 2143, through the hadith of Nafi. It is also in Muwatta (narrated by Yahya) 2/653, 654, and Kubra, hadith no. 6221.
