During the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we used to buy food, and he would send someone to us ordering us to move it from the place where we had purchased it to another place before we could sell it.
أخبرنا محمد بن سلمة والحارث بن مسكين قراءة عليه وأنا أسمع واللفظ له عن ابن القاسم قال حدثني مالك عن نافع
كنا في زمان رسول الله ﷺ نبتاع الطعام فيبعث علينا من يأمرنا بانتقاله من المكان الذي ابتعنا فيه إلى مكان سواه قبل أن نبيعه
Muslim narrated it in his Sahih, book of Sales, chapter titled "The invalidity of selling what has been purchased before taking possession of it," hadith no. 1527, from the hadith of Malik through this same chain. It is also found in Muwatta (Yahya) 2/641, and in Kubra, hadith no. 6198.
