The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever buys a musarrat animal, if he is satisfied with it after milking it, let him keep it. But if he dislikes it, let him return it along with a saa of dates."
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Sales, Chapter on the Ruling on Selling a Musarrah (an Animal Whose Milk Has Been Withheld), h: 1524, from the hadith of Dawud, transmitted through him. Bukhari mentioned it as a suspended narration (mualaq) in the Book of Sales, Chapter on the Prohibition Against the Seller Withholding Milk in Camels, Cows, Sheep, or Any Such Animal, h: 2148, from the hadith of Musa bin Yasar, transmitted through him. It is also found in Al-Kubra, h: 6080.
