The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Among the signs of the Hour are that wealth will become abundant and widespread, trade will flourish, knowledge will spread openly, and a man will be selling something and say, 'Wait, let me consult the merchant of such-and-such tribe.' And a scribe will be sought in a large neighborhood but none will be found."
أخبرنا عمرو بن علي قال أنبأنا وهب بن جرير قال حدثني أبي عن يونس عن الحسن
قال رسول الله ﷺ إن من أشراط الساعة أن يفشو المال ويكثر وتفشو التجارة ويظهر العلم ويبيع الرجل البيع فيقول لا حتى أستأمر تاجر بني فلان ويلتمس في الحي العظيم الكاتب فلا يوجد
[Sahih] Ibn Abu Asim narrated it in Al-Ahad wal-Mathani, 3/284, hadith no. 1664, from the hadith of Wahb bin Jareer with the same chain. It is also found in Kubra, hadith no. 6048, and Hakim graded it sahih according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs, 2/27. Hasan narrated it using "an", though the hadith has many corroborating witnesses. What is meant by "the scribe" is the just scribe who does not covet wealth for personal gain.
