Abdullah bin Amr bin As reported,

Whoever kills a sparrow or anything larger without due right, Allah will question him about it on the Day of Resurrection.Someone asked, "Messenger of Allah, what is its due right?"He replied, "Its due right is that you slaughter it and eat it, and not cut off its head and toss it away."

أخبرنا قتيبة بن سعيد قال حدثنا سفيان عن عمرو عن صهيب

عن عبد الله بن عمرو يرفعه قال

من قتل عصفورا فما فوقها بغير حقها سأل الله عز وجل عنها يوم القيامة قيل يا رسول الله فما حقها قال حقها أن تذبحها فتأكلها ولا تقطع رأسها فيرمى بها
