A group of bedouins came in haste during the time of the sacrifice, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Eat and store away for three days."Some time later, people said, "Messenger of Allah, people used to benefit from their sacrifices, rendering fat from them and making waterskins from their hides."He asked, "What about that?"They said, "The prohibition you made against keeping the meat of the sacrifices."He replied, "I only forbade it because of the group that had come in haste. Eat, store away, and give in charity."
أخبرنا عبيد الله بن سعيد قال حدثنا يحيى عن مالك قال حدثني عبد الله بن أبي بكر عن عمرة
دفت دافة من أهل البادية حضرة الأضحى فقال رسول الله ﷺ كلوا وادخروا ثلاثا فلما كان بعد ذلك قالوا يا رسول الله إن الناس كانوا ينتفعون من أضاحيهم يجملون منها الودك ويتخذون منها الأسقية قال وما ذاك قال الذي نهيت من إمساك لحوم الأضاحي قال إنما نهيت للدافة التي دفت كلوا وادخروا وتصدقوا
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Sacrifices, chapter on the clarification of what was reported regarding the prohibition of eating the meat of sacrificial animals after... etc., hadith no. 1971, from the hadith of Malik through this same chain, and it is found in Muwatta (Yahya's version): 2/484, 485, and in Sunan Kabir, hadith no. 4520.
