Two things I memorized from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, "Allah has prescribed excellence in all things. When you kill, kill well, and when you slaughter, slaughter well. Let each of you sharpen his blade and spare suffering to the animal he slaughters."
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hunting and Slaughtered Animals, in the chapter on the command to slaughter and kill well and to sharpen the blade, hadith no. 1955, from the hadith of Ismail bin Ulaya, through the same chain. It is also found in Sunan al-Kubra, hadith no. 4494.
