We used to perform tamattu pilgrimage with the Prophet ﷺ, slaughtering a cow on behalf of seven people and sharing in it.
أخبرنا محمد بن المثنى عن يحيى عن عبد الملك عن عطاء
كنا نتمتع مع النبي ﷺ فنذبح البقرة عن سبعة ونشترك فيها
Muslim narrated it in the book of Hajj, chapter on the permissibility of sharing in a sacrificial animal, and that a camel or a cow each suffice for seven people, hadith no. 1318/355, from the hadith of Abdul-Malik bin Abu Sulayman with the same wording, and it is also in al-Kubra, hadith no. 4486.
