The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed a horned, virile ram that walked in black, ate in black, and looked through black.
أخبرنا عبد الله بن سعيد أبو سعيد الأشج قال حدثنا حفص بن غياث عن جعفر بن محمد عن أبيه
ضحى رسول الله ﷺ بكبش أقرن فحيل يمشي في سواد ويأكل في سواد وينظر في سواد
[Sahih] Reported by Tirmidhi, in Chapter of Sacrificial Animals, section on what is recommended regarding sacrificial animals, hadith no. 1496, from Abdullah bin Saeed Ashaj, with this wording, and he said, hasan sahih gharib, we do not know it except from the hadith of Hafs. It is also found in Kubra, hadith no. 4480, and it has a corroborating witness in Muslim, hadith no. 1967, and elsewhere, and by this the hadith is confirmed as sahih.
