I applied perfume to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then he visited his wives, and in the morning he entered the state of ihram.
حدثنا هناد بن السري عن وكيع عن مسعر وسفيان عن إبراهيم بن محمد بن المنتشر عن أبيه قال سمعت ابن عمر يقول لأن أصبح مطليا بقطران أحب إلي من أن أصبح محرما أنضخ طيبا فدخلت على
طيبت رسول الله ﷺ فطاف على نسائه ثم أصبح محرما
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hajj, in the chapter on applying perfume before entering ihram, hadith no. 49/1192, from the hadith of Waki from Sufyan. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Ghusl, in the chapter on one who has intercourse then returns to it, and one who goes around to his wives with a single ghusl, hadith no. 267, from the hadith of Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Muntashir through the same chain. It is also found in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 3685.
