Fatimah sent word to Abu Bakr asking him for her inheritance from the Prophet ﷺ, from his charitable endowment and from what he left of the fifth of Khaybar.Abu Bakr replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'We are not inherited from.'"
أخبرنا عمرو بن يحيى بن الحارث قال حدثنا محبوب يعني ابن موسى قال أنبأنا أبو إسحق هو الفزاري عن شعيب بن أبي حمزة عن الزهري عن عروة بن الزبير
أن فاطمة أرسلت إلى أبي بكر تسأله ميراثها من النبي ﷺ من صدقته ومما ترك من خمس خيبر قال أبو بكر إن رسول الله ﷺ قال لا نورث
Bukhari narrated it in "The Virtues of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ," chapter "The Merits of the Relatives of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ," etc., hadith no. 3711, from the hadith of Shuayb. Muslim narrated it in "Jihad," chapter "The Statement of the Prophet ﷺ, 'We leave no inheritance, whatever we leave is charity,'" hadith no. 1759, from the hadith of Zuhri, with the same wording. It is also found in Kitab al-Siyar of Fazari, from Abu Ishaq, hadith no. 539.
