Ibn Awn reported,

Muhammad used to say, "Land, in my view, is like the capital in a mudarabah partnership. Whatever is valid in mudarabah capital is valid for land, and whatever is not valid in mudarabah capital is not valid for land."He saw no harm in a man handing over his land to a cultivator on the condition that the cultivator works it himself along with his children, his helpers, and his oxen, and spends nothing, with all the expenses being borne by the owner of the land.

أخبرنا عمرو بن زرارة قال أنبأنا إسمعيل قال

حدثنا ابن عون قال

كان محمد يقول الأرض عندي مثل مال المضاربة فما صلح في مال المضاربة صلح في الأرض وما لم يصلح في مال المضاربة لم يصلح في الأرض قال وكان لا يرى بأسا أن يدفع أرضه إلى الأكار على أن يعمل فيها بنفسه وولده وأعوانه وبقره ولا ينفق شيئا وتكون النفقة كلها من رب الأرض
