He used to take payment for renting out land until Rafi narrated to him from one of his uncles that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had forbidden Kira Ard, so he abandoned the practice afterward.Ayub narrated it from Nafi from Rafi without mentioning his uncles.
أخبرنا محمد بن عبد الله بن المبارك قال حدثنا إسحق الأزرق قال حدثنا ابن عون عن نافع
أنه كان يأخذ كراء الأرض حتى حدثه رافع عن بعض عمومته أن رسول الله ﷺ نهى عن كراء الأرض فتركها بعد رواه أيوب عن نافع عن رافع ولم يذكر عمومته
