The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade leasing land for a share of its produce. Saeed reported from Rafi bin Khadij, who said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade leasing land for a share of its produce and selling fruit still on the tree for an estimated measure of dried fruit."He also said, "Only three sorts of men should cultivate land, a man who owns land and cultivates it himself, a man who has been given land as a gift and cultivates what he was given, or a man who rents land for gold or silver."Israil, reporting from Tariq, kept the two parts distinct. He transmitted the first statement without a complete chain and treated the latter portion as the words of Saeed himself. Sufyan Thawri also narrated it from Tariq.
