I did not catch what was said, so he explained, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade you from a practice that used to benefit you, but obedience to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is better for you than what benefits you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade you from haql, and haql is sharecropping for a third or a quarter of the produce. So whoever has land that he has no need for, let him grant its use to his brother or leave it. And he forbade you from muzabanah, and muzabanah is when a man comes to a large quantity of date palms with a great sum of money and says, 'Take it in exchange for such and such wasqs of dates from this year's harvest.'"
أخبرني محمد بن قدامة قال حدثنا جرير عن منصور عن مجاهد عن أسيد بن ظهير قال أتى علينا
ولم أفهم فقال إن رسول الله ﷺ نهاكم عن أمر كان ينفعكم وطاعة رسول الله ﷺ خير لكم مما ينفعكم نهاكم رسول الله ﷺ عن الحقل والحقل المزارعة بالثلث والربع فمن كان له أرض فاستغنى عنها فليمنحها أخاه أو ليدع ونهاكم عن المزابنة والمزابنة الرجل يجيء إلى النخل الكثير بالمال العظيم فيقول خذه بكذا وكذا وسقا من تمر ذلك العام
