The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought some meat. He asked, "What is this?"He was told, "It was given as charity to Barirah."He said, "For her it is charity, and for us it is a gift."
أخبرنا إسحق بن إبراهيم قال حدثنا وكيع قال حدثنا شعبة عن قتادة
أن رسول الله ﷺ أتي بلحم فقال ما هذا فقيل تصدق به على بريرة فقال هو لها صدقة ولنا هدية
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Zakat, Chapter "If a Charitable Gift Changes Hands," hadith no. 1495, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Zakat, in the section titled etc., hadith no. 1074, from the hadith of Waki, with this wording. It is in the chapter on the permissibility of gifts for the Prophet ﷺ, hadith no. 6595.
