The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have resolved not to accept a gift except from a Qurashi, an Ansari, a Thaqafi, or a Dawsi."
أخبرنا أبو عاصم خشيش بن أصرم قال حدثنا عبد الرزاق قال أنبأنا معمر عن ابن عجلان عن سعيد
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال لقد هممت أن لا أقبل هدية إلا من قرشي أو أنصاري أو ثقفي أو دوسي
Sourcing, sahih, narrated by Humaydi, no. 1057, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Ajlan, and it is in al-Kubra, no. 6594, and Musnad Abdul-Razzaq, 11/65, no. 19921. Ibn Ajlan was corroborated by Ayub (Tirmidhi, no. 3945) and Abu Mashar, and Hakim graded it sahih, 2/62,63, according to the standard of Muslim, and Dhahabi agreed with him. The hadith has supporting narrations with Ibn Hibban, no. 1145, 1146, and others.
