A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "I am poor and have nothing, and I am the guardian of an orphan."He replied, "Eat from the wealth of your orphan without extravagance, without wastefulness, and without using it to build up your own fortune."
أخبرنا إسمعيل بن مسعود قال حدثنا خالد عن حسين
أن رجلا أتى النبي ﷺ فقال إني فقير ليس لي شيء ولي يتيم قال كل من مال يتيمك غير مسرف ولا مباذر ولا متأثل
Referencing, its chain is hasan. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Wills, in the chapter on what an orphan's guardian may take from the orphan's wealth, hadith no. 2872, from the hadith of Amr bin Shuayb, with the same chain. It is also found in al-Kubra, hadith no. 6495. Ibn Khuzayma and Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, hadith no. 952, and others did likewise.
