He left behind a debt, so I sought the intercession of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with his creditors to waive part of the debt. He asked them, but they refused.The Prophet ﷺ said to me, "Go and sort your dates into separate piles, the Ajwah on its own, the Idhq Ibn Zayd on its own, and each variety apart, then send for me."I did so, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and sat at the top of the piles, or in the middle of them, and then said, "Measure out for the people."So I measured out for them until I had paid them in full, and my dates remained as if nothing had been taken from them.
أخبرنا علي بن حجر قال حدثنا جرير عن مغيرة عن الشعبي عن جابر قال توفي
وترك دينا فاستشفعت برسول الله ﷺ على غرمائه أن يضعوا من دينه شيئا فطلب إليهم فأبوا فقال لي النبي ﷺ اذهب فصنف تمرك أصنافا العجوة على حدة وعذق ابن زيد على حدة وأصنافه ثم ابعث إلي قال ففعلت فجاء رسول الله ﷺ فجلس في أعلاه أو في أوسطه ثم قال كل للقوم قال فكلت لهم حتى أوفيتهم ثم بقي تمري كأن لم ينقص منه شيء
