She reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No woman is to mourn for a deceased person beyond three days, except for a husband. For him, she mourns four months and ten days. During this period she must not wear a dyed garment, nor a garment of asb cloth, nor apply kohl, nor comb her hair, nor touch perfume, except when she purifies herself at the end of her menses, when she may use a small amount of qust and azfar."
أخبرنا حسين بن محمد قال حدثنا خالد قال حدثنا هشام عن حفصة
قالت قال رسول الله ﷺ لا تحد امرأة على ميت فوق ثلاث إلا على زوج فإنها تحد عليه أربعة أشهر وعشرا ولا تلبس ثوبا مصبوغا ولا ثوب عصب ولا تكتحل ولا تمتشط ولا تمس طيبا إلا عند طهرها حين تطهر نبذا من قسط وأظفار
Bukhari transmitted it in the Book of Divorce, Chapter on a mourning woman wearing coarse-striped clothing, no. 5342, and Muslim in the Book of Divorce, Chapter on the obligation of mourning during the waiting period after death and its prohibition otherwise, except for three days, no. 938/66, 1491, from the hadith of Hisham bin Hassan through the same chain, and it is in Al-Kubra, no. 5728.
