The Prophet ﷺ was asked about a man whose wife he had divorced, after which another man married her but divorced her before consummating the marriage, and whether she could then return to her first husband.He said, "No, not until she has tasted the sweetness of intimacy."
أخبرنا عمرو بن علي قال حدثنا محمد بن جعفر قال حدثنا شعبة عن علقمة بن مرثد قال سمعت سالم بن رزين يحدث عن سالم بن عبد الله عن سعيد بن المسيب
عن النبي ﷺ في الرجل تكون له المرأة يطلقها ثم يتزوجها رجل آخر فيطلقها قبل أن يدخل بها فترجع إلى زوجها الأول قال لا حتى تذوق العسيلة
[Sahih] Reported by Ibn Majah, Nikah, chapter "A man divorces his wife three times, then she marries [another], then he divorces her," etc., no. 1933, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Jafar Ghundar with this wording. It is also found in Sunan al-Kubra, no. 5607, and the hadith has very many corroborating narrations.Salm is unknown, and his father's name is Razin, as stated in Sunan al-Kubra and Taliqat Salafiyyah by our teacher Ataullah Hunayf Fawjiyani, may Allah have mercy on him.
