Abu Zubayr reported that he heard Abdul-Rahman bin Ayman asking Ibn Umar, while Abu Zubayr was listening, "What is your view concerning a man who divorces his wife while she is menstruating?"Abdullah bin Umar replied, "I divorced my wife while she was menstruating during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Umar asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it, saying, 'Abdullah bin Umar has divorced his wife while she was menstruating.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Let him take her back.' So he returned her to me and said, 'When she becomes pure, let him divorce her or keep her.'"Ibn Umar said that the Prophet ﷺ then recited, "Prophet, when you divorce women, divorce them" [Talaq 65:1], at the start of their waiting period.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Divorce, in the chapter on the prohibition of divorcing a menstruating woman without her consent, etc., from the hadith of Hajjaj bin Muhammad, with the same chain, and it is in Al-Kubra, no. 5585. No. 14/1471
