Abdullah bin Umar reported,

I divorced my wife during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while she was menstruating. Umar mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry about it and said, "Let him take her back, then keep her until she menstruates again and becomes pure. If he then decides to divorce her while she is in a state of purity before touching her, that is the divorce prescribed for the waiting period as Allah عز وجل has revealed."Abdullah bin Umar said, "So I took her back, and the divorce I had pronounced was counted against her."
