The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to divide his time equally among his wives and act justly between them, then he would say, "Allah, this is what I am able to do with what I control, so do not blame me for what You control and I do not."Hammad bin Zayd transmitted it as mursal.
[Its chain of transmission is sahih. Ibn Majah narrated it in the Book of Marriage, Chapter on Division Among Wives, hadith no. 1971, from the hadith of Yazid bin Harun, through the same chain. It is also found in Kubra, hadith no. 8891. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith no. 1305, as did Hakim, according to the criteria of Muslim, 2/187, and Dhahabi agreed with him.Abu Qilaba was free from any concealment in his transmission, as Abu Hatim Razi established. See my book, Kawakib Durriyyah fi Wujub Fatihah Khalf Imam fi Jahriyyah.
